Prison drug drop leads to arrest

Tuesday, July 1, 2014 — On Friday, June 20, 21-year-old Yasemin Meryem Tafur, a Sunnyvale, California woman, was arrested after a California Correctional Center officer watched her place a bag containing marijuana and methamphetamine in a trash can on prison grounds. The officer was able to get a partial license plate number and a description of the vehicle the woman was driving, which led to the arrest.

Tafur was arrested after her vehicle was discovered at a motel in Susanville. The Lassen County District Attorney’s Office, along with members of the CCC Investigative Services Unit, contacted Tafur at the motel and received consent to search the motel room. Items retrieved in the room were consistent with items recovered at the prison.
