Fire Safe Council gets support from supes

Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 — The Lassen County Board of Supervisors sent a letter to United States Forest Service offices detailing county project priorities they support, including a Lassen County Fire Safe Council project.
Topping the list, in a letter addressed to Randy Moore, the Forest Service’s Pacific Southwest Regional Forester, was the fuel reduction treatments through the Diamond Mountain Initiative project.
“It is our understanding from the Lassen County Fire Safe Council, if the Lassen National Forest does not immediately place this project into Tier 1 status in Fiscal Year 2015, the community may lose an opportunity to obtain $500,000 from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy for fire reduction treatments in 2016-2017,” read the letter.
