Sierra Army Depot serves military customers

Monday, March 30, 2015 — Situated near the Skedaddle Mountain Range in Herlong is Sierra Army Depot, which operates like its own city and supports those defending our nation.

The Depot is one of 13 in its category  — Depot and Arsenals — and incorporates 36,000 acres.

Susanville Sanitary District plans to update lab

Sunday, March 29, 2015 — The Susanville Sanitary District was looking into potentially approving a contractor and items for an on-site laboratory, but decided to wait to go out to bid for the project.

During the Tuesday, March 10 board of directors meeting, legal council Randall Harr suggested the district go to bid for the proposed expansion of wastewater laboratory.

According to general manager Randy O’Hern, the current wastewater lab is overcrowded and not up to disinfection and sterile environment standards needed to process samples and does not have adequate heating and cooling.

School considers mission statement

Sunday, March 29, 2015 — The Janesville Union School District is seeking input to update their school mission statement.

During the Tuesday, March 17 board of trustees meeting, administration and the board discussed holding brainstorming meetings regarding the mission statement.

Currently, the school’s statement is as follows, “The mission of the Janesville Union School District is to develop in each child the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values needed to realize personal potential and become an effective citizen in a free society.”
