Lassen High School's girls' basketball team awarded home game in playoffs
Lassen enters the game with a 18-7 record and West Valley stands at 8-16.
A win sends Lassen to Redding to face No. 1 Enterprise (22-2) on Thursday, Feb. 22.
The championship game is slated for Friday, March 2 at Chico State University.
It's a familiar seed for Lassen, which finished second in the WSL behind Oroville.
Head coach Dorinda Shaffer could not be reached by press time.
The remaining half of the pairings features No. 2 Oroville (19-6) awaiting the winner of No. 3 Anderson (17-7) and No. 6 Las Plumas (8-17).
Lassen beat Oroville at the Yreka Tournament before losing twice to the Tigers in WSL play.
The girls won three of their last four regular season games and come into the post season as a legitimate spoiler with the likes of scorers Jeris Evans and Tanneria Johnson, and role players Tenley DeKock, Haley Trevino and Renee Robbins.
The Grizzlies caught fire mid-way through league play after struggling in the first three games. Shaffer said one of the keys to her team's success was simply remaining focused through entire game and playing solid defense.
