Cougars fall back in conference race
In the first game of the twinbill, Lassen's Joel Hoffman scored the winning run from third base on a errant throw to home plate in the bottom of the 11th inning. Hoffman was one of three batters who were hit by pitches in the inning.
Dan Bria picked up the win in relief.
Lassen's Chris Wainhouse was 2-for-5; Dayton Hendricks went 1-for-3, and Josh Ritter and Derek Neuenschwander collected hits.
Shasta pitcher Evan White gave up just five hits en route to a complete game victory in the final game of the doubleheader.
Ben Larson, Chuck Shine, Ritter, Neuenschwander and Wainhouse had a hit. Wainhouse was hit by a pitch to drive in a run.
Victor Block suffered the loss.
Twelve batters were hit by pitches in Saturday's doubleheader.
With 17 games remaining in the GVC, the Cougars travel to College of the Siskiyous Friday, March 23 and host a noon doubleheader against the Screaming Eagles the following day at Memorial Park in Susanville.
