Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 at Walton’s Colonial Mortuary located at 115 S. Lassen St.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 15 at the mortuary. Other remembrances were not available at press time but updated information can be found at lassennews.com.
According to the California Highway Patrol, around 7 p.m. on Dale Oxford, 39, of Janesville was driving his 2000 F-250 pickup truck in the southbound, number 2 lane of Highway 395 approaching Bass Hill Road.
Katie Morgan was driving a 2000 Ford Escort. CHP officers were not able to determine if she stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Bass Hill Road and Highway 395.
For unknown reasons, Katie Morgan proceeded to make a turn and pulled out onto Highway 395 directly into the pickup truck’s path.
Oxford said he saw the car pull out and took evasive action. However, he was unable to avoid hitting the car.
The front end of the pickup truck struck the left side of the car. After the collision both vehicles skidded in a southeasterly direction and came to rest on their wheels on the east shoulder of Highway 395 just south of Bass Hill Road.
Oxford and his daughter Kelci, 14, were not injured in the accident.
