James Anthony Barbour (Ferrari)   

James Anthony Barbour (Ferrari) died April 24, 2010 from injuries sustained after being struck by a pickup while crossing a highway in Lebanon, Mo. James was born in Susanville, Calif. on Feb. 19, 1988 to Nancy Barbour and Aldo A. “Tony” Ferrari. He spent his early years in Susanville before moving to Marysville, Calif. then to Lebanon, where he worked for Wendy’s at the time of his death.   

He is survived by his father, Aldo Anthony Ferrari (Annetra), of Lawton, Okla.; mother Nancy (David) Johnson, of Lebanon; brother Gary Barbour, of Reno, Nev.; sister Cassidy Johnson, of Lebanon; grandmother and step-grandfather Deborah and Steve MacDonald, of Susanville; aunts and uncles Nick and Jenifer Dillon, of Susanville; Joe and Connie Dillon, of Bend, Ore.; and Lon Tittle, also of Bend; cousins Tiffany and Cassandra Dillon, of Susanville; Meredith and Alexandra Dillon, of Bend; Jeremy and Dakota Tittle, also of Bend; Kody Mack and aunt Karen Barbour.   

He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Binny Mendoza, with whom he spent much time as a child.   

James loved his life and set goals he was working toward achieving, which included becoming a paramedic. He enjoyed writing poetry, studying history and taking part in lively discussion on various issues. He loved being with family and friends and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.   

A memorial service was held April 29, 2010 in Lebanon at the Hillcrest Baptist Church. The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the manager and employees of Wendy’s in Lebanon for their generous donation to help the family with expenses during this time of loss.

Harry Pierre Giubergia   

Harry Pierre Giubergia passed away on April 24, 2010, at the age of 84. He was born on Nov. 11, 1925, in Susanville, Calif., to Frank and Yvonne Giubergia.   

He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. Harry worked as a lumberjack and then retired from the sawmill in 1989.   

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Donna and Dale Young, of Corning, Calif.; brother John Giubergia, of Los Molinas,  Calif.; three sisters, Eva McLain, of Willow, Calif., May and, brother-in-law, Speed (Ken) Stevenson, of Susanville, Calif., Maryvonne and brother-in-law Bob Briscoe of Alberquerque, N.M.; and grandsons Ron and Michael Rector and their families, of Red Bluff, Calif.   

Harry is also survived by nephews and nieces, Dennis and Judy Giubergia, Frank and Terri Stevenson, Norma Jean and Bob Benamati, and Sandra Lehman,  and their families.

 Anthony Lee Hockett   

Anthony Lee Hockett, 35, of Lemoore, Calif. passed away on April 25, 2010 in Lemoore, Calif. He was an Aviation Structural Mechanic, First Class Petty Officer for the United States Navy, based at NAS Lemoore, Calif.   

Anthony was born in Chester, Calif. and was raised and educated in Westwood, Calif. He graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Calif. in 1993. On Oct. 6, 1996, he married Melissa Anne Underberg in Westwood, Calif. Anthony first served at NAS Lemoore with VFA 151 and then transferred to Fallon, Nev. with SFWD. He then went to Beaufort, S.C. with VFA 86 and was currently serving at NAS Lemoore with VFA 125. Anthony enjoyed rebuilding and racing fast cars, being outdoors, camping, 4-wheeling, computers, playing golf and going to the shooting range.   

Anthony is survived by his wife, Melissa, of Lemoore, Calif.; three children Nicole Adrianna Michelle Hockett, Matthew Allen Thomas Hockett and Ashley Anne Lorraine Hockett; his mother, Janet Brent-Butts, of Garden Valley, Calif.; his father, Earl Hockett, of Battle Mountain, Nev.; his brother, Richard Allen Hockett; his grandparents, Roy and Loretta Brent, of Westwood, Calif.; his great grandmother, Frankie Summers, of Yuba City, Calif.; his mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Ruth Underberg of Westwood, Calif.; sister-in-law Michelle Underberg, of Lemoore, Calif.; and brother-in-law, Mark Underberg, of Westwood, Calif.   

Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010 at the NAS Lemoore Chapel. A memorial service will be held in Anthony’s hometown of Westwood, Calif. at the Westwood Cemetery at noon on Saturday, May 15, 2010.
