Smoke from prescribed burning at Lassen Volcanic National Park may bother residents and tourists in Lassen and Plumas counties for the next 10 years.
Supervisors from both counties recently had a chance to comment on the park’s draft fire management plan, which includes plans to burn an average of 2,000 acres each year for the next 10 years in wilderness areas. The plan said those areas comprise almost 70 percent of the park.
Construction is now in full swing for the first phase of the rehabilitation and modernization project at the Diamond View School campus on Richmond Road. SSD Superintendent Gary McIntire said the project is set to be completed by the second week of June giving staff time to move and set the classrooms back up in time for the 2010-2011 school year.
