Ike Knoch left last Friday to spend a few weeks at the Bay City. Rumor has it that Knoch will return alone. Ike’s mother vows vengeance upon him should he commit such a rash act, but his father said, “Should he get a gal that will not be compelled to have a barber comb her hair and a maid to wait on her, I don’t object!”

Six hundred dollars were appropriated by the Lassen County Board of Supervisors to the city of Susanville, which is ready to spend a similar sum on the immediate improvement of the Susanville Airport in order that the Lassen Union High School and Lassen College may continue in the Civil Pilot Training Program under the auspices of the U.S. Aeronautical Bureau.

It was announced that Lassen County would receive $46,401 as its share of high apportionments for 1966.

Eight separate non-compliance findings were made by the Department of Education in an investigation of special education services of a Susanville elementary school. Civil lawsuits were also filed against the school’s principal, school superintendent and the Susanville School Board.
It was learned that during a series of weeks, information had been gathered on allegations of corporal punishment and inadequate special education facilities at the school.

An administrative order locking the doors of the biomass plant located on the Lassen College campus came as a surprise to students enrolled in the alternative energy program as well as the faculty and staff. No warning of the closure, a result of inadequate insurance on the facility, was issued beforehand.

Westwood High School’s Dan Church set a Northern Section season record for juniors after pumping in 50 points as the Lumberjacks downed Chester High School 90-75.
It was Church’s third 50-point or better outing of the year. To date, he has scored 704 points.

A campaign on the benefits of a casino last week failed to budge the Susanville City Council as members spoke out in opposition to the controversial Susanville Indian Rancheria gaming hall. A spokeswoman for the operation stressed the casino management won’t tolerate noise or substance abuse and that no alcohol will be served.

With people from all over the world calling to ask when environmental work for the Dyer Mountain Four Season Resort will be done, Lassen County planners can only say “days, not months.”
Assistant Community Development Director Joe Bertotti said last week that’s the only response he can give about the administrative draft of the environmental impact report for the project approved by two-thirds of Westwood voters.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing of a 26-year-old Susanville woman that took place at the Knights Inn Motel on Main Street in Susanville.
Officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to the motel around 2 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 24 and found Crystal Jean Costello in a room, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
