Susan Brooks Marsh

Susan Brooks Marsh “Suz,” born April 22, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah passed away Oct. 9, 2011 from natural causes in Westwood, Calif. Susan was a resident of Termo, Calif. for more than 10 years. She retired from administrative management at McDonnell Douglas.

She was preceded in death by her father Ferris Quentin Day.

Susan is survived by husband, Jay Marsh, of Westwood; two daughters, Shelly Peinado, of Reno, Nev. and Sherry Bales, of Shawnee, Kan.; and nine grandchildren.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. Please send donations in Susan’s name to the children’s charity of your choice.

“Suz” left us very suddenly and unexpectedly during a brand new start in her life. She was happy and looking forward to a new life in Westwood after 10 years of living in a very remote area of Lassen County. She had suffered many years of pain and discomfort from fibromyalgia and other medical problems but was still able to live with her husband, Jay, in some rough country.

It wasn’t an easy life but it was a good one and she enjoyed the peace and serenity of the “Valley View Ranch.”

While unable to attend church often due to the distances involved, Suz was a true believer and is now with the Lord and continuing to love and cherish those of us she left behind.

Her husband Jay plans to share her ashes with the world in a place she held dear, for her own reasons, in Harmony, Calif.

Wanda Reddoch

Wanda Reddoch was born in Bakersfield, Calif. on Sept. 10, 1934. Wanda and husband Arnold moved from the Bay Area to Standish, Calif. in 1981 to buy and run the Wayside Inn. They owned the business for 26 years. She took pride in her business and helping people. They also own the Days End RV Park in Standish. Wanda enjoyed being involved in the community, supporting the Standish 4H and her church.

At 4'10”, anyone who knew Wanda would say she was short and spunky with a lot of spirit. She had a fun sense of humor. You never quite knew what she might say! She had a great love for people and animals. She gave generously of her time to anyone who needed her. She held fun, creative fundraisers at the Wayside to support breast cancer research. SPCA was another love.

During her youth she lived in Missouri with her parents Harriett and Lester Hunt, moving back to Bakersfield in 1960. After she married Arnold, they moved to the San Francisco area where they raised their family. Wanda was a loving mother and wife, always there for her family.

She said her greatest accomplishments were her daughters and her marriage of 50 years to Arnold. She watched over us, putting our needs first. Christmas was her elaborate time to spoil her family. She gave the most wonderful thoughtful gifts.

Wanda Reddoch passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 19, 2011 after a yearlong fight with cancer.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24 at the Diamond Crest Cemetery, Veterans section, in Johnstonville. A celebration of life gathering will follow directly after at the Standish Bible church in Standish.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband Arnold; daughters, Rocky Parker, of Standish, Linda Nolan, of Roseville and Susan McMillin, of Olympia, Wash.; son-in-law Richard Parker; grandson Anthony Parker; and her dachshund Oscar.

Wanda is remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sorely missed.

Diane Elizabeth Rymel

Diane Elizabeth Rymel, 79, of Susanville, Calif. passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2011. Diane was born on July 8, 1932 in East Wymer, Yorkshire, England. She lived in various areas including Yuba City, Calif., Paradise, Calif. and the last 10 years in Susanville.

Since retiring, she volunteered for many places including Banner Lassen Medical Center. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Pye, of Norwich, Norfork, England; two sons, Mark Bortle, of Janesville, Calif. and Craig Bortle, of Marietta, Ga.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Rymel.
