GLUTEN-FREE TASTING AT THE HEALTH NUT

On Thursday, Nov. 3rd, Linda Owings, of The Health Nut, will be offering a variety of gluten-free products by Namasté Foods from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Linda will be serving up samples of Namasté's delicious pasta primavera and for dessert a delicious apple spice cake. In addition, you'll have an opportunity to try freshly-baked Namasté bread.Linda will also be handing out gluten-free recipes.If you or your child has been diagnosed with a gluten intolerance or celiac sprue or you suspect it, you'll be happy to know you can find many delicious gluten-free alternatives to your favorite foods at The Health Nut, 2204 Main St. Susanville, or call 257-5800.

LOVE TACOS AND WANT A NEW TV?

Well you just might have a chance of winning a new TV if you visit the Elks Lodge in Susanville on Monday nights. The Elks are raffling off a 55 inch Vizio high definition LED TV, valued at $1,500. Tickets are only available on Monday nights at their taco feeds from 6 to 9 p.m. The drawing will be held on Jan. 19. So go by for some delicious tacos and your chance to win a new TV.

UPTOWN MASSAGE: NEW THERAPY, NEW NAME

Certified Massage Therapist Kelly Fairbank, recently returned from a Myofascial Release Workshop, in Savannah, Ga. She is excited to share her new technique which is a highly effective, yet gentle way to deal with muscular tension and dysfunction.

"It doesn't make a lot of sense to break up the muscle tissue without first releasing the connective tissue that surrounds it," said Fairbank, "I feel this work will not only help those with tight shoulders and low back tension, but also people who suffer with tension headaches and fibromyalgia."

WINE TASTING AND MORE

The Susanville Sunrise Rotary Club is hosting their 9th annual wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres this Friday, Nov. 4 at Jensen Hall in Susanville. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. along with a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are available from any Sunrise Rotarian or at the door. SCOUTING FOR FOOD

The local Cub and Boy Scouts are once again scouting for food donations this year. This annual event provides food for those in need. This Saturday, Nov. 5, the scouts will be out putting door hangers on various homes to let people know they will be picking up food donations the following Saturday, Nov. 12. If for some reason your donations of non-perishable food items don't get picked up you can take your donations to the Susanville Fire Department.
