YOUR NEW DOORSTEP?

Starting next week The UPS Store in Susanville can act as your doorstep. They are now a secure package receiving location. They can sign for your packages from any carrier and keep them safe for you. So whether you get monthly prescriptions through the mail or you are expecting packages and don’t want them sitting on your doorstep you can have them delivered to The UPS Store. They will sign for your package and then notify you when the package has been received. There is no monthly fee involved, see Andy Warren at The UPS Store for more information.

SHIRTS AND MORE LAUNDERED

County Cleaners (and shirt laundry) in Uptown Susanville recently updated their laundry and shirt finishing equipment. Owner Penny Artz said they have also modernized their dry cleaning equipment to comply with the CA Air Resources Board mandates. Whether you need your table linens for the holidays, drapes or your dress shirts laundered, they are the ones to do them. In Chester you can drop off your cleaning at Mountain Money on Main Street. They offer services for the Lake Almanor/ Chester area.

LADIES NIGHT

Esther Pretti, owner of Walker Mansion Inn, in Westwood is hosting a Ladies Night Out starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11. Gather your girlfriends for a fun-filled evening of dinner along with a no-host bar. Be sure and check out the great sales in the gift shop while you're there.

FREE COMMUNITY DOCUMENTARY

Honey Lake Hospice will be presenting the documentary “Consider the Conversation,” which addresses the taboo subject of having the conversation with your loved ones about your end of life wishes. There will be two showings of this free program at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Nov. 9 at the Monticola Club in Susanville.

ANNUAL COAT DRIVE

Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville will hold its annual community coat drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 in the Lassen/Shasta meeting room. For every new or clean gently used coat that you donate, you will be entered in a free drawing for a gift shop gift basket.

CRYSTAL BINGO?

Local Princess House crystal consultant Becky Jordan is once again hosting a Hostess and Customer Appreciation Bingo. The fun begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Monticola Club in Susanville. There will be all kinds of prizes, lots of fun to be had, plus you can see all the new Princess House pieces available. For more information call Becky at 251-0306.

LAST DAY FOR BASKETBALL SIGN-UPS

Lassen Hoops is holding their last sign-ups for basketball this Wednesday night at Susanville's Pizza Factory. No late sign-ups will be taken this year. According to Dale Oxford they are taking players in grades 3rd through 8th. For more information call Dale at 310-3665.

PET FOOD BANK NEEDS HELP

Lassen Animal Rescue is opening up a Pet Food Bank and offering a month of free food to pet owners that need assistance. According to founder and president Eileen Spencer, too many dogs and cats are being surrendered because the owner can no longer afford food. They are in need of any size unopened dog or cat food, wet or dry. They can be taken to Plumas Bank on Nov. 18, Golden One Credit Union on Nov. 19 or Bank of America on Nov. 22. Lassen Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible. For more information call Eileen at 256-3963.

SUPPER CLUB OPEN IN WESTWOOD

Chuck's Railroad Room in Westwood has opened the Sierra Supper Club. Owner Charlie Cecil along with bar manager Mary Gow informs us the newly remodeled dining room is now open for breakfast and dinners. Chef Zach Hart (formerly of Coventry Gardens in Susanville) will be serving a variety of delicious dinner entrees and nightly dinner specials. They will be open for dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and breakfast is available from 7 a.m. to noon Thursday through Sunday.
