Lassen Soccer moves to next round
After both teams earned the third seed in the Northern Section CIF Division I playoffs, the Lassen soccer program earned home field advantage for the first round of playoffs Thursday, Feb. 16.
First up was the Lady Grizzlies taking on the Falcons and coming away with a 1-0 win after the Falcons forfeited following the first half.
Portia Martin snagged a goal for the Lady Grizzlies before the Falcons called it quits to head back home and out of the cold.
Next it was the Grizzlies in a very physical battle against the Tigers. After grabbing an early 2-1 lead in the first half, the Tigers came out at the start of the second half to tie the game with two goals each.
Jason Millar put one into the net before the game was up to secure a 3-2 win in the first playoff appearance.
The semi-final round for the Division I playoffs will be played today, Feb. 21.
The Lady Grizzlies travel to Corning to take on the number two seed, the Cardinals, and the Grizzlies travel to Las Plumas to take on the number three seed, the Thunderbirds.
