Playoff schedule for county sports

Feb. 21 — With the regular season ending last week, playoffs have been heating up for schools across the county.

The Lassen High girl’s basketball team will play at home tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m., against the Yreka Miners in the first round of the Northern Section Division IV playoffs.

The Lassen High soccer teams are in the second round of the Northern Section CIF Division I playoffs today, Tuesday, Feb. 21. With both teams settled into the third seed, the boy’s play the Las Plumas Thunderbirds and the girl’s take on the Corning Cardinals. Both games are away.

The Lassen High boy’s basketball team play at West Valley tomorrow, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22. The Grizzlies enter the bracket as the number 10 seed, and the West Valley Eagles are in the number seven seed.

The Herlong High girl’s basketball team entered the Northern Section CIF Division VI bracket as the number 10 seed, and will travel to Dorris, Calif., to take on Butte Valley, the number six seed, at 7 p.m.

After receiving the top seed in the Division VI playoffs, the Westwood High girl’s and boy’s basketball teams took a bye in the first round before hosting either the number eight or number nine seed.

The boy’s are up first to take on either American Christian or Princeton at 7 p.m., this Thursday, Feb. 23.

The girl’s will take on either Big Valley or Redding Adventist at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24.

According to Phil Bryant, head coach for the Lady Jacks and the Jacks, the schedule may change to a double-header depending on the first round of the playoffs.
