Fern Haley Godman Ritsch

Fern passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 in Susanville, Calif. She was born on Nov. 30, 1921 in Van Buren, Ark. to Lee and Linda (Weese) Haley.
The family moved to Lassen County in 1938 where she met and married Eugene Godman. They had two children, Charlotte and Calvin. Gene passed away in 1959. In 1964, she married Carl Ritsch, and they made their home in Chester, Calif. until 1974 when they returned to Susanville. They bought the place Fern lived in until her death.
Fern loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked to garden and keep her acre of land free from weeds. She was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church.
Fern is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Butterfield and son-in-law, Roy, and her son, Calvin Godman and daughter-in-law, Linda. She is also survived by four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Bill Haley, of Washington and Russell Haley, of Oregon; and two sisters, Eunice Fargo, of Riverside and Faye Garatte, of Susanville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Linda Haley, brother, Calvin G. Haley and her husbands, Eugene Godman and Carl Ritsch.
Fern will be greatly missed by her many friends and relatives, but we know she is with her Lord Jesus Christ in heaven, and we will join her there one day.
Micah James Winters
Micah James Winters was born Sept. 23, 1981 in Susanville, Calif. and died Feb. 17, 2012 at his home on Gold Run Road. Micah grew up in Lassen County and attended Calvary Academy and Richmond School. He graduated from Lassen High School and then worked as a plumber in Reno. At the time of his death, he worked for Russell’s Window and Blind Cleaning in Susanville.
Micah enjoyed family gatherings, talk radio, and practical jokes. He placed a high value on friends and family. He once told his daughters, “You girls are my riches, my jewels.” He loved God and read the Bible often.
Micah is survived by his wife, Nichole; daughters, Ruth Alexis and Gracie Lorraine; parents, Frank Winters and Betty and Ron Porter; brothers, Isaiah Winters and Clayton Porter; sisters, Sydney Alexis Winters and Brynn Elysia Winters; grandparents, Bert and Ruth Winters and Daisie Fain; and faithful friends, David Andrews and Shane Akins. A host of beloved relatives and friends survive him.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Vernon Fain.
A memorial service was held for Micah on Feb. 24, 2012 at the Susanville First Southern Baptist Church on Cornell and Alexander.
