Lady Grizzlies out, Westwood basketball heads to Chico for the section championship

March 20, 2012 — Two Lassen County teams will compete for the section title tomorrow, Friday, March 2, at California State University, Chico.

After proving themselves the team to beat throughout the regular season, the Westwood High basketball programs dominated the competition in the semi-final round of the Northern Section CIF Division VI playoffs.

The Jacks took out the Happy Camp Indians at home Tuesday, Feb. 28, in a 68-41 victory.

The Jacks (No. 1 seed) will take on the Paradise Adventist Academy (No. 2), at 2:30 p.m., for the championship round in the Chico State gym.

The Lady Jacks knocked out Hayfork 52-31 Wednesday, Feb. 29, at home, for their semi-final appearance.

The Lady Jacks (No. 1) will take on Redding Christian (No. 3) at 4:15 p.m., for the championship round in the Chico State gym.

The Lassen High girl’s basketball team was unable to upset the Anderson Cubs (No. 2), in the Northern Section CIF Division IV playoffs semi-final round Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The Lady Grizzlies fell 70-55 and the hopes of a repeat section championship title was squashed.
