Blue Star Moms hold donation drive
In an effort to offset the cost of mailing the packages, the Blue Star Moms will hold a Fill-the-Combat Boot donation drive Saturday, June 2.
Members will tote boots throughout the day at multiple locations along Main Street Susanville.
Donations received during the drive will go toward buying care package items and paying for the packages to be sent to troops.
According to Shannon Martin, “Last year the Blue Star Moms purchased hundreds of dollars in canned foods and other items, and sent out 180 packages at a cost of over $2,000.”
To carry out its mission of providing support for all members of the United States Armed Forces and its veterans, the Blue Star Moms conduct various operations benefiting veterans, wounded warriors, fallen heroes and their families, and military families, and promote patriotism in the community.
The Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt organization, support and service group serving Lassen County since November 2008.
