Power outage planned for early tomorrow morning
Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 — The Lassen Municipal Utility District (LMUD) announced it will switch from Honey Lake Power to the Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) caribou line early tomorrow morning.
PG&E notified LMUD the caribou line, damaged in the Chips Fire, has been repaired, and LMUD will make the switch about 2 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.
This process is expected to take two to three hours and requires LMUD to interrupt power to all its customers. LMUD expects power will be restored by 5 a.m. Saturday morning.
LMUD asks customers to turn off or unplug all unnecessary household appliances. This will help stabilize the grid and make the switching process more efficient.
The utility also advises customers power updates can be found on its website (lmud.org) or through local media outlets. If your power is interrupted at any time, call the LMUD customer service hotline at 257-4174. This line is manned 24 hours a day, however, due to high call volume, this line may be busy. LMUD asks callers to remain patient.
