Two men taken into custody after a Susanville shooting

Sept. 10, 2012 — Two men were arrested on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of stolen property after the Susanville Police Department (SPD) investigated a shooting that sent one man to Banner Lassen Medical Center.

David Fernandes Mederios, 47, of Herlong and Chad Bernard Patton, 35, of Susanville, were booked into the Lassen County Jail and are being held on a $65,000 bail.

According to a press release from the SPD, at approximately 10:40 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, officer responded to 1070 Paiute Lane on a report of a possible shooting. Upon arrival, they located a man who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the left leg.

The suspects had fled the scene.

Initial interviews revealed that one of the suspects knew the victim and went to his apartment to rob him, which subsequently resulted in the shooting of the victim.

The investigation led officers to a residence at the 600 block of Court Street where, according to the SPD, Mederios and Patton were taken into custody without incident.

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol and the Susanville Fire Department assisted the SPD in the investigation.

If you have any information about the case, you are encouraged to call the SPD at 257-5603. You can remain anonymous.

The case will be referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for review.
