Accident injures Susanville man
Oct. 15, 2012 — A Susanville man suffered moderate injuries when he lost control of his car and rolled the vehicle about 6:42 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 on Highway 395 near county road A-25.
According to a press release from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Carlos McElmurry, 36, of Susanville, was driving northbound on Highway 395 when he lost control of his 2001 Honda and drifted off the east side of the highway. The vehicle rolled and came to rest on its roof approximately 35 feet east of Highway 395.
Three juveniles, ages 8, 4 and 2, were properly restrained and were not injured. The juveniles were released to the family at the scene.
McElmurry was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nev. with lacerations to his face and complaints of chest pain.
The CHP reported McElmurry emitted an odor of an alcoholic beverage, which may have been a factor in the accident.
