Lassen Rural Bus offering services for Veterans Day

Nov. 7, 2012 — Bus rides are being offered for veterans and their families wanting to travel to Susanville for Veterans Day activities Sunday, Nov. 11.

According to Gary Felt, general manager of Paratransit Services, who has the operating contract for Lassen Rural Bus, the service is available to veterans, their families and supporters. However, others can ride the bus, too.

Those who utilize the bus service will arrive in Susanville around 10:15 a.m. The parade begins at 11 a.m. at the Armory on Russell Avenue. It travels down Main Street and ends at the Veterans Memorial Hall.

The bus schedule is as follows:

8:50 a.m. Doyle Senior Center.

9:15 a.m. Veterans of Foreign Wars building in Herlong.

9:45 a.m. park and ride in Janesville.

9:55 a.m. Wayside Inn in Standish.

10:05 a.m. Susan River Fire Department in Johnstonville on Highway 395.

According to Felt, the bus driver will stop by the Veteran’s Memorial Hall to pick up any veterans who need a ride to the Armory.

The bus will also be part of the parade and veterans can choose to ride in it, or if it gets too cold or they need a rest, they can get on the bus during the event.

The bus will reverse its route and is scheduled to leave from Susanville at 2 p.m.

For more information about the service, call Felt at 252-7433.
