Dahle clobbers Bosetti in assembly race

Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 — Way back in 1964 the Beatles pitifully wailed, “Money can’t buy me love” — and, at least this time, it apparently can’t buy you a seat in the state house either.

Don’t look now, but a Lassen County farmer easily prevailed over a former big league baseball player, mayor and Redding City Councilmember supported by a $300,000 totally discredited 11th-hour radio and mail advertising campaign funded by a political action committee in the contentious race for a seat in the state assembly.

Lassen County District 4 Supervisor Brian Dahle handily defeated Rick Bosetti in the Tuesday, Nov. 6 election for the District 1 Assembly seat. This election marked the first time two Republicans challenged each other for the seat under new rules that pit the top two vote-getters in the primary election against each other in the general election.

Dahle thanked his supporters from Lassen County who voted overwhelmingly for him. Dahle collected 6,236 votes in Lassen County (77.48 percent) to Boestti’s 1,813 (22.52 percent).

District wide, the numbers were nearly as high — with Dahle garnering 83,557 votes (64.5 percent) to Bosetti’s 45,919 votes (35.5 percent).

Dahle said the real work begins now as he prepares to go to Sacramento to reduce government regulations that stifle business, to help create more jobs and balance the budget.

For the complete story, see the Tuesday, Nov. 13 issue of the Lassen County Times.

Why use the word clobber? Honestly....

"Clobber" is used as a dramatic adjective for the sake of journalistic coloring. I'm so glad to see our local Republican whoop another Republican, especially a "lying" Republican (anther handy adjective). Congratulations, Mr. Dahle.

You misunderstand...
I understand the function of the word. The word made it seem like a brawl vs a choice of the public. I have no problem with them pointing out the massive win just sounded like they were reporting on a street fight vs important political outcome.

Why would one want to travel as far as either pole, just to vote?

I take it this is an editorial column rather than an unbiased reporting of facts by a professional journalist in a neutral newspaper... oh, wait those standards aren't in place here :-|

C'mon, we love the "Times" for what it is, the toast of northeastern California, a little down-home, like Susanville herself. Anywhere you go, "journalists" will impart a piece of themselves into the content (look at my regional paper, the San Jose Merc). Objectivity is fast become a fading skill.
