Lassen National Forest prescribed burning advisory
Be advised the following burn projects are tentatively planned for this week in the Poison Lake and Pegleg Mountain areas, conditions permitting.
Poison Lake area:
•Descriptive Location: Northern end of Poison Lake
•Total acreage: 30 acres
•Ignition planned: Nov. 13 through 16
•Duration of ignition: One to four days
•Duration of smoke production: One to two days after piles are ignited
•Estimated direction of smoke travel: Varied depending on weather conditions of the day
•Communities or smoke sensitive areas: The piles are located in a remote area and will not impact any communities or smoke sensitive areas. Although smoke may be visible from Highway 44, it should not impact the highway in any way.
Pegleg Mountain area:
•Descriptive location: North, Northwest side of Pegleg Mountain.
•Total acreage: 12 acres
•Ignition planned: Nov. 13 through 16
•Duration of ignition: One to four days
•Duration of smoke production: One to two days
•Estimated direction of smoke travel: Varied depending on conditions that day
•Communities or smoke sensitive areas: The piles are located in a remote area and will not impact any communities or smoke sensitive areas. Smoke may be visible from Highway 44.
