Warner promoted to sergeant

Nov. 12, 2012 — Detective Richard Warner, a 12-year veteran with the Susanville Police Department (SPD), was promoted to police sergeant effective Oct. 27, according to a press release from the SPD.

Warner fills the position vacated by the promotion of Matt Wood to police lieutenant earlier this year.

According to the press release, Warner began his career with the SPD in March 2001 as a patrol officer. During the past four years, Warner has served as the department’s detective, investigating major crimes including rape, robbery, homicide and child abuse.

“Sgt. Warner is a valuable member of the police department,” said Tom Downing, SPD chief, “and I look forward to his continued success as a first line supervisor.”

There is not a more fair police officer in the force. He has taken the time to talk over the years to a lot of children, just to see how thier day was going. He was tough if the situation warranted it and gentle if not.
