Wind advisory for Lassen County
Nov. 20, 2012 — A high wind warning remains in effect for the Susanville area until 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21.
Winds will increase this morning, Tuesday, Nov. 20 and remain strong through this afternoon. Another period of strong winds is expected late tonight through early Wednesday morning. Winds will be southwest 20 to 40 miles per hour (mph) with gusts up to 65 mph. Wind gusts of up to 75 mph are expected in wind prone locations along Highway 395 and in the Surprise Valley. Motorists in high profile vehicles can expect hazardous driving conditions with cross winds especially along Highway 395 in eastern Lassen County.
Damage to trees, power lines and property is possible with winds of this magnitude. Travel will become hazardous especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution and remain alert for sudden gusts or cross winds.
