Accident claims life of pedestrian

A vehicle versus pedestrian accident claimed the life of a 30-year-old Susanville man and shut down a portion of Highway 395 for a brief time.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), at approximately 5:39 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, CHP received numerous calls about a traffic collision involving a vehicle versus pedestrian nort of Bass Hill Road.

Upon arrival, it was confirmed a pedestrian had been struck by several vehicles and had sustained major trauma resulting in his death.

The CHP confirmed a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer with three passengers was involved in the accident and hit the pedestrian. The occupants of the car reported no injuries.

At the time of the collision, CHP said it was dark and there were strong winds and heavy rain was falling. The pedestrian was reported wearing dark colored clothing and it appears he was standing in the traffic lane when he was struck. The occupants in the northbound vehicle reported no injuries.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information regarding the collision should contact the Susanville Area CHP office at 257-2191 or 257-9605.

Suicide. Newspapers have a policy of not reporting suicides in detail. It is pretty apparent, given the vagueness of this article.
Suicide is a choice, like it or not.

the vagueness is due to details not being complete and family notified etc...these things take time. you didn't hear about the results of the womens body in the river when Herzog arrived did you?

Have heard they can't find the next of kin for the deceased.. Not sure if's true or just more rumors.. But it would make sense as to why no name has been told.
