Heavy rainfall causes flooding in some areas of Susanville
The Susan River rages along Carroll Street in Susanville, Sunday, Dec. 2. According to Susanville Police Chief Tom Downing, there was localized flooding on Carroll, Juniper and Cornell streets and Richmond Road. The Susanville Fire Department and the Susanville police officers continue to monitor the situation. A Susanville city employee is on stand-by at Carroll Street with more sandbags, if needed. Sandbags were placed along the K-Rail Saturday, Dec. 1 in anticipation of heavy rainfall and a flood warning.
Sandbags are stacked up along a rock wall at a Juniper Street residence. According to a neighbor, water poured over the wall and seeped into the home.
