Benefit dinner to be held for Lassen Ale Works employees

Dec. 13, 2012 — A benefit dinner has been scheduled to assist the 35 employees at Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon who are not able to work after a Tuesday, Dec. 11 fire temporarily closed the business doors.

According to Margaret Liddiard, people in Susanville and Lassen County have asked how they can help and here is how.

The benefit dinner is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Susanville Elks Lodge.

The brew pub was planning to run Baby Back Ribs as the special this weekend so people will be getting those delicious ribs and chicken with Rooptown Red barbecue sauce and hamburgers plus sides including corn on the cob, garlic bread and salad for a donation of $15 per person.

Lassen Ale Works beer will be on the taps at the bar, too and Tom Braun’s band “Fourgery,” will provide special music.

After the fire, Liddiard said her biggest concern was for her employees. The plan is to get the bar re-open as soon as possible, but even when that happens, all the employees won’t be back at full employment.

Liddiard said she doesn’t want to lose any of her employees and is very worried about them financially.

In a press release, Liddiard said, “Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon would not be the warm and welcoming place it is without the dedicated servers, bartenders and kitchen staff who work here. Please help raise the funds they need to help them cover basic living expenses through this lean holiday season. The brew pub will reopen as soon as repairs are complete — and the staff and management at LAW can’t wait to serve you under the cattle brands and the historic mural once again.”

For more information, call Liddard at 257-7666.

What a wonderful effort. These people work hard and relied on the aniticipated paycheck, to feed thier families and provide a Christmas as well. May this be a HUGE success.

Agree that this is a sad. But they are not the only ones around that are without work. There are many others. I was laid off three weeks ago with two others, for no reason. And i have no ideal how I will make a Christmas for my kids.
Look around, there are many in need, truly in need.

Pleeese. The owners of Lassen Ale Works insurance will pay for loss of business and expenses. That includes employees loss of wages. Get a grip people. There are many in Lassen County that go without every day of the year. The Pub can stay open and sell beer. Losing the kithchen was not a real loss

Absolutely. That's why they had insurance. Others don't have that luxury. Now those that lost their home, that is a different story.

The displaced employees should ask the owners if they have Business Interruption Insurance. It generally covers payment of utility bills, compensation for lost profits (based on financial records), and some policies even cover payroll.

In addition. Really? A fundraiser where Lassen Ale Works is providing the food. Isn't this a win for them too. They can make sure the public gets a taste of their Ale and Food. Doesn't sound like a fundraiser to me. Sounds more like business as usual. Don't want customers to forget about you.
