Kiwanis to host annual Christmas Tour of Lights
Dec. 14, 2012 — For many Susanville residents, the joy of the holiday season comes with a free bus tour to see the city’s best-decorated houses. The event is free to all.
The Susanville Kiwanis Club presents the 12thannual Christmas Tour of Lights Monday, Dec. 17. Participants should meet at 6 p.m. for refreshments at the Lassen Senior Services (LSS) building, located at 1700 Sunkist Drive in Susanville. At 7 p.m. Lassen Rural Bus will provide buses to transport the participants to see Christmas light displays all around Susanville.
Seniors from Eagle Lake Village and Country Villa Riverview, including those in wheelchairs, are expected to join the festivities.
Edson said the Kiwanis Club is small, but it is open to anyone.
“We’re always seeking new members,” Edson said, “and more volunteers to assist us in providing services — not only to children but to seniors as well.”
While most people recognize the Kiwanis Club for its corn dogs at the Lassen County Fair, Edson said the group supports the Boy Scouts, local Easter egg hunts, Teen Court, Sober Graduation, Roop Day and provides scholarships for Lassen High School students.
“We support the community 100 percent, and contribute as much as we can,” Edson said. “We’re a worthy club to join because we love the fact we’re giving back to the community.”
