Chains required on Highway 44
Dec. 21, 2012 — As of this morning, Friday, Dec. 21, chains are required on all vehicles except those with 4-wheel drive and snow tires on all four wheels from eight miles west of Old Station to the junction of Highway 36 in Lassen County.
Chains are required on all vehicles, no exceptions from Viola, to eight miles west of Old Station.

A 100 percent chance of snow is forecasted through the evening of Saturday, Dec. 22. More snow may arrive Sunday and Monday.
For Christmas day, Tuesday, Dec. 25, the weather forecast shows partly sunny with a high of 32 degrees.
