Police investigate Susanville assault incident

Jan. 30, 2013 — One man is in custody and another is sought regarding an assault incident in Susanville last week.

About 5:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to an Orchard Street residence where a man reported two men entered his residence and assaulted him by spraying him with pepper spray or mace. The victim also reported both men punched and kicked him.

The assailants fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in an unknown vehicle prior to the officers’ arrival. The victim was treated for a fractured nose at Banner Lassen Medical Center and released.

The victim identified one of his assailants as Shannon Puckett, 29, of Susanville. He identified the other assailant only as Bill.

The police investigation led to the identification of that suspect as William Egan, 54, of Susanville.

Officers took Egan into custody without incident about 5:40 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at a residence on the 800 block of Willow Street.

Egan remains in the Lassen County Jail on charges of robbery, kidnapping and false imprisonment. His bail has been set at $60,000.

Puckett remains at large and his whereabouts are unknown.

Officers from Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Forest Service assisted with the investigation.
