NEW SUMMERTIME HOURS
Beginning this week Papa Murphy's in Susanville will have new hours for summertime. Lorin and Judy Galassi inform us they will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Visit their Main Street store across from the high school for fresh pizza you take home and bake.
FREE CAR FOR SOBER GRAD
Jason Rieger, of Wheels West, is once again kindly donating a vehicle to be given away at Sober Grad this year. This beautiful, four-wheel drive Ford Explorer with three rows is immaculate! One lucky high school senior will be the winner of this great car.
CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAYS
It's Customer Appreciation Days this week in Susanville, sponsored by many local businesses and the Lassen County Times. Beginning on Tuesday you can sign up to win your share of the $500 shopping spree, and check out the specials many merchants are offering. This year, six sponsors were randomly selected to host the in-store daily dollar drawings where $50 shopping sprees will be drawn. On Wednesday, May 1, Billington Ace Hardware and Margie's Book Nook will each be selecting a name from their box; on Thursday, May 2, Sears and JH Heating will be drawing; and on Friday, May 3, Uptown Uniforms and Idaho Grocery will be drawing their winners. Plus there will be another $200 given away to random people for participating and entering their name at one of the local participants. Be sure and see the special insert in today's paper for more information.
KINDERGARTEN ROUND UP
Calling all parents, McKinley School is holding their annual Kindergarten Round-Up for the 2013/2014 school year from 4 to 6 p.m. May 2 in their cafeteria. There will be tours, gifts and activities. See their ad in this week’s paper for more details.
MOUTHWATERING RUBS FOR THE BARBEQUE
We’ve all been waiting for the sunshine to break out the barbecue and start grilling a delicious dinner. The Urrutia’s at Idaho Grocery have stocked up on an amazing selection of dry rubs and marinades to fit every taste. They’ve recently added the BJ’s Nevada Barbecue Company hot sauces, sauces and rubs, a perfect seasoning to their hand cut United States Department of Agriculture choice meats. Plus you’ll find the Corning Olive Oil Company California Extra Virgin Olive Oil line of dipping oils, vinegars and more!
Rick and Anna Stewart, owners of Susanville Supermarket IGA, are celebrating their 20th anniversary this month. The Stewarts have been very generous with the community they live in and have come to love. To show their appreciation to the community they are having great specials on selected food items. Don’t forget to enter the drawing for your chance to win a Samsung Galaxy II tablet or electric scooter.
CONGRATULATIONS GRAND PRIZE WINNER
Katrin Sweger was the grand prize-drawing winner of the Ford Focus giveaway at the Diamond Mountain Casino. Instead of taking the car she opted for the cash prize so she could use a portion of the proceeds to help her son.
“My son has been serving in the military and he will be undergoing surgery. This prize has allowed me to send his wife to be with him,” she said.
CINCO DE MAYO DINNER
The Susanville Elks Lodge is having a Cinco de Mayo dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 2. The dinner is being sponsored by the Lodge Trustees. Elks and guests are welcomed. They will be having homemade enchiladas, tacos, rice and beans with chips and salsa. To RSVP, call 257-3213 and leave a message.
FULLY STOCKED FOR THE SEASON
Have you been thinking of planting trees or flowers in your yard? Melissa McCoy, owner of Every Bloomin' Thing, informs us her shop (both the nursery and gift shop) are fully stocked. You will find all kinds of bloomin' things at their Johnstonville shop. Looking for inspiration? They have that too!
