Juvenile arrested for taking items from vehicles
May 6, 2013 — A 17-year-old juvenile is under arrest for allegedly taking items from parked vehicles in Susanville early Monday morning.
The police did not identify the young man, but according to a press release from the Susanville Police Department, he was booked into the Lassen County Juvenile Detention Facility, and the case has been referred to the juvenile division of the Lassen County Probation Department.
According to the press release, patrol officers noticed the juvenile standing next to a vehicle with its courtesy lights on near the intersection of Third and Cedar streets about 12:15 a.m. Monday, May 6. Officers contacted the juvenile as he was walking away from the car, and they noticed he dropped a hunting bow he had been carrying.
About the same time, officers noticed a car on the 1500 block of North Street with one of its doors partially open and the running lights on. A subsequent investigation revealed a compound bow and several other items found in the juvenile’s possession were stolen out of that vehicle.
Officers also discovered another vehicle on Third Street had been entered, but no items were taken.
In addition, officers discovered a vehicle on North Street had been vandalized, and, according to the press release, officers determined the juvenile was responsible for the vandalism as well.
