Westwood water deemed safe to drink
May 28, 2013 — Westwood’s water has tested safe to drink, and residents do not need to boil it any longer.
According to Randy Buchanan, Westwood Community Services District manager, the water coming from the spring is running clear and water samples tested at a Greenville lab had good results.
On Friday, May 24, residents were asked to boil water for at least five minutes because water coming from the spring was cloudy after a 5.7 earthquake rattled the area the previous evening.
According to Buchanan, the cloudy water resulted from matter from the earth, and he described it as a super fine ash that didn’t sink or float.
