Friday, July 26 — After months of planning, fundraising and practicing, acting troupe Art Is Free is ready to perform “A Very Potter Musical Sequel” for Lassen County residents, and this may be the last time to watch the local troupe perform.
Art is Free first performed the original, “A Very Potter Musical,” last summer, and thanks to overwhelming positive feedback and support from the community, co-directors Kym Antonucci and Cassie Levy decided to bring together a talented cast of local actors for another rendition of the popular YouTube sequel.
“We guarantee you will not regret spending your time (at the show),” said Levy. “It’s a feel-good performance.”
The PG-13 rated musical will be performed at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
July 26, 27, 28, 4 p.m. Aug. 1, and 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Aug 2 and 3 in Memorial Park.
Not only will attendees get to watch a great free performance, the cast will be selling red vine candy, water and soda in addition to sexy – mainly funny, but still wholesome — pictures of the cast in character and homemade wands.
Viewers are asked to provide their own umbrellas for shade and lawn chairs.
The musical is a conglomeration of all the Harry Potter books, but focuses on the third and fifth installations. There will be singing, laughing, fighting and even a romance between two awkwardly paired characters.
“Our cast are beefcakes,” said Levy.
Overall, the musical is bound to draw laughs and will entertain all viewers who can tolerate sometimes maturely themed humor.
“To quote the paper last year,” said Levy. “They’ll be missing out if they don’t go.”
Since the directors may be moving out of the area, this may be the last free performance by the troupe where local residents are able to attend.
“I hope everyone can come and enjoy some free art, since we are Art is Free,” said Antonucci.
