Amber Alert suspect's car possibly sighted in Alturas
|The vehicle belonging to the suspect of an Amber Alert may have been sighted driving on Highway 395 in Alturas, Calif. around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7. The alert has been issued for a blue Nissan Versa, license plate No. 6WCU986. Anyone who sees this vehicle should stay away from it and call law enforcement.|
UPDATE: Aug. 12, 2013 — Hannah Anderson, 16, the person sought in this Amber Alert has been found. Her alleged abductor, James DiMaggio, 40, was shot and killed in Idaho during a confrontation with FBI agents Saturday.
Aug. 8 — The car belonging to James Lee DiMaggio, a man who allegedly kidnapped a girl from San Diego County after murdering her mother and possibly her brother, may have been sighted driving on Highway 395 in Alturas, Calif. at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7.
The Amber Alert issued for DiMaggio and his blue Nissan Versa, license plate No. 6WCU986, has been extended from California to Nevada, Oregon and Washington, as officials believe DiMaggio may be heading for Canada or Texas. There have also been reported sightings in southern Oregon and Washington.
Officials have warned anyone who sees the suspect’s car to stay away, as it may be dangerous. Authorities urge anyone who sees the car to call 911 or local law enforcement.
