Aug. 16 — Devin Bey, the leading scorer for the Lassen Community College 2013 men’s basketball Golden Valley Conference championship team, has signed a scholarship to attend and play basketball for Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn.
During the 2013 season, Bey averaged 13.2 points and 4.5 assists per game.
Bemidji State is an NCAA Division II school that competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Last season, the men’s basketball team had an overall record of 18-12 and a conference record of 13-9. According to Lassen College head basketball coach Devin Aye, Bey had several NCAA Division I and II universities recruiting him.
“I think Devin Bey made a great choice and he will have a great career at Bemidji State,” Aye said.
Bey transferred to Lassen College from Lake Land College in Illinois, an NJCAA Division I school. He is originally from Kingstree, S.C. where he went to high school and was elected First-Team All-State in his senior year.
Bey is one of three members of last year’s Lassen College men’s basketball program to accept an athletic scholarship to a university.
