Police encourage bicycle safety
Aug. 26, 2013 — The Susanville Police Department advises bicyclists to use caution after an accident involving a bicycle and car yesterday evening.
According to a press release from the department, a 14-year-old boy ran into the side of a vehicle stopped on N. Roop Street waiting to turn onto Main Street about 6:35 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25.
The teenager reportedly was riding his bicycle against the designated flow of traffic when he struck a Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 55-year-old Susanville woman.
The teenager was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center for evaluation.
