A car erupted in flames around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 in the parking lot behind Larry’s Spirit gas station at Main Street and Fair Drive.
After Susanville resident Amy Wilson saw her sea foam green 1971 Volkswagon Beetle smoking, she pulled in to an abandoned section of a parking lot.
According to Wilson, shortly after she and the other passengers, her friend and two children of the friend, exited the vehicle unharmed, it erupted in flames.
“I was just worried about the kids,” said Wilson.
Emergency responders quickly put out the blaze, but the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Susanville Fire Captain Dan Weaver.
“It was pretty easy to knock it down, it went pretty smooth,” said Weaver.
Emergency responders include Susanville Fire Department, Cal Fire, Susanville Police Department and the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office.
