Citizen's information key in alleged armed robbery arrests
Friday, Oct. 18 — A watchful citizen helped law enforcement officers locate and arrest three men connected in the alleged armed robbery at Payless ShoeSource that happened at approximately 1:30 p.m. today.
According to a press release from the Susanville Police Department, officers responded immediately to the business after receiving the report of the alleged crime. They also received additional information that a witness was following one of the suspects. When the officers arrived on scene, they learned the suspect fled the area initially on foot and was picked up by a vehicle a short distance from the store. A description of the vehicle was obtained and broadcasted to allied agencies in the area.
The press relesase said a good Samaritan heard the vehicle description broadcasted over his scanner and saw it on the Skyline Extension. He contacted law enforcement and followed the vehicle to Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel. Officers surrounded the location and began a search of the premises and surrounding area. Albert Ray Brazzanovich, 31, Justin Daniel Cain, 33, and Ronnie Luclucalome Edwards, 26, of Oroville, Calif., were located and arrested without incident and booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of robbery and conspiracy. They are each being held on $40,000 bail.
Susanville Police Chief Tom Downing said, "The rapid identification and apprehension of the suspects in this case was accomplished through the willingness of citizens in our community to assist law enforcement with vital information. Without their assistance, I am confident this case would have been more difficult to solve."
Other law enforcement agencies also assisted with the case.
Downing said, “I would like to thank our law enforcement partners who assisted with their rapid response. The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol and an officer from the Bureau of Land Management all assisted with this incident. Their assistance is always appreciated."
The case remains under investigation. If anyone has any information about this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Susanville Police Department during normal business hours at its office at 1801 Main St. or by calling the 24 hour dispatch center at 257-2171.
