Four gigantic steam boilers being transported to Eagle Lake fell off a horse-draw wagon in the middle of Main Street. The boilers blocked traffic for nearly two days because there were not enough men to help push them to the side.

The Lassen Advocate reported many prominent members of the community decided to make a plea to railroad officials in San Francisco to have a proposed railroad between Salt Lake City and San Francisco travel through Deer Creek Pass. The route would attract new industries, settlers and much needed dollars.

115 years ago

F. P. Cady, one of Lassen County’s Republican delegates, was picked to introduce Jacob H. Neff at the Republican convention in Stockton. Cady was chosen after his unselfish devotion to the Republican Party was recognized on a national scale.

 

Remember When for May 15, 2012

115 years ago

One of three robbers involved in a bank heist outside of Redding was found on the side of a road near Westwood with a bullet wound to his shoulder. It appeared he had been left there to die by the other two.
