YOUNG WOMEN VOLUNTEER AWARD

Soroptimist International of Susanville announces an award that is targeted to young women who make the community and world a better place. The Violet Richardson Award honors young women between the ages of 14 and 17 for volunteer action, such as fighting drugs, crime and violence, having a positive influence with a special school project, etc. There will be a $500 award for the winner. Crow’s Nest Studio is announcing their grand opening. Saturday, Nov. 19. CHRISTMAS IN THE COUNTRY

It’s time for the 22nd annual Christmas in the Country Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 19. The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Janesville School Gym/Community Center. There will be several vendors, Christmas trees and photos with Santa.

TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Honey Lake Hospice will be holding their annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Eagle Lake Village in Susanville. This heartwarming event will take place outdoors and there will be an indoor reception too. Lights may be purchased at Margie’s Book Nook and Plumas Bank.

Starting next week The UPS Store in Susanville can act as your doorstep. They are now a secure package receiving location. They can sign for your packages from any carrier and keep them safe for you. So whether you get monthly prescriptions through the mail or you are expecting packages and don’t want them sitting on your doorstep you can have them delivered to The UPS Store. They will sign for your package and then notify you when the package has been received. There is no monthly fee involved, see Andy Warren at The UPS Store for more information.

It's time for the witches, ghosts and goblins to make their way to Uptown Susanville for the annual Safe and Sane Halloween fun. The festivities will begin at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31. Main Street will be closed to traffic, thanks to the efforts of the Susanville Police Department, from the top of Main Street to Weatherlow Street. There will be a pet costume contest along with costume contests for all the little ones. Our generous local uptown businesses will be ready to hand out some delicious treats to all who make their way uptown.
