Blue Star Moms attend national convention

The Susanville Chapter of Blue Star Moms attended the annual national convention held in Arlington Virginia last month.

According to Blue Star Mom and attendee Berva Treat, “The convention is a celebration of the sisterhood that we all share and an opportunity to show support as we all come together. The friendships I have made over the years, because of the bond that our children have given us, is one that I will cherish forever.”

Article Two from the Constitution of the 75 year-old corporation states: “ We aim to support and advocate for the Armed Forces of the United States of America and its veterans and to assist and participate in ceremonies which honor, remember and support our military men, women and veterans.”

Motivational guest speakers shared insights on effective ways to strengthen a Blue Star Chapter and tips for fund-raising.

A candlelight memorial service was held to honor the fallen military as well as Blue Star moms who have passed on from this life. The experience was deeply moving according to Blue Star Mom, Joanne Darlington.
