Celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday

Mothers devote so much pain, time and love to their children that they deserve more than one day a year honoring them, but they especially deserve something special on Mother’s Day, this year on Sunday, May 14. Conveniently, some local restaurants and businesses are hosting special Mother’s Day menus and activities to help everyone celebrate the mother, or mother figure in their lives.

For a nice meal, the Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel, Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon, El Tepeyac Grille, Lassen Steaks and the White House are hosting special menus. Details from each restaurant for the day can be found in their ads throughout the paper.

Moreover, Eagle Lake Village is hosting a Mother’s Day Tea at 2 p.m. Friday, May 12.

Mothers, grandmothers and family members are invited to don their best hat and join them for tea, finger foods, games and prizes.

For those with flowers in mind, some local businesses have plenty to offer. Every Bloomin’ Thing is hosting its Mimosas and Muffins events in the garden from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14. Attendees can browse the shop and gardens while sipping the brunch cocktail and snacking on a muffin. Martin’s Produce and Greenhouse, located in Standish, is offering 5 percent off all hanging baskets and roses on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13. The fruit stand on Johnstonville Road will also be open those days with hanging baskets.

Be sure to spoil the mom in your life with a special treat this Sunday!
