Tickets available for Soroptimists’ Margarita Fest

May 3, 2013 — If you love Mexican food and margaritas or helping out a local cause then get your ticket for the second annual Margarita Fest presented by the Soroptimist International of Susanville.

 

Police department investigating assault case

May 2, 2013 — The Susanville Police Department is investigating an alleged assault that occurred in the early morning of Tuesday, April 30.

According to a press release from the police department, at approximately 1 a.m. officers responded to an apartment complex in the 700 block of Hall Street on a report of a prior assault.

When officers arrived on scene, they contacted a 32-year-old man who reported he had been assaulted about 30 minutes prior by several men while he was walking in the 1600 block of Fifth Street.

  

Indian taco dinner and bingo, May 4

May 2, 2013 — Doyle Days will kick off on May 4 with a Veterans of Foreign Wars Indian Taco fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6356, located in Herlong.

Bingo starts at 7 p.m.

May 2, 2013 — Will a high school teacher find her calling in an urban public school or decide she is more suited to the private education sector?

The answer will unfold in the comedic presentation of "Up the Down Staircase," presented by the Lassen High School drama department. The play will be performed Thursday, May 2 through Saturday, May 4. Curtain time is 7 p.m.

A firefighter was injured during the assault to extinguish a blaze at Sierra Pacific Industry’s mill in Quincy on Wednesday afternoon, May 1.
    The firefighter, Kristapher Gunn, of Quincy, suffered broken bones in his ankle after he was blown off a ladder and fell to the ground.
    Quincy Fire Chief Robbie Cassou said Gunn was blown off by a water stream from his hose that re-coiled off the building.
