Susanville man arrested for assault, criminal threats
March 19, 2014 — A Susanville man is in custody on charges of assault with a firearm and criminal threats.
According to a press release from the Susanville Police Department, officers arrested William Trujillo, 33, about 5 p.m. Saturday, March 15 after a “high risk traffic stop” on the 600 block of Shawn Way. Trujillo was taken into custody without incident and booked into Lassen County Jail on charges of assault with a firearm and criminal threats. His bail was set at $35,000.
According to the release, officers responded to a civil problem involving child custody at a residence in the 1100 block of Gail Way about 11 a.m. March 15. The reporting party told officers she wanted to pick up her child from the child’s father, but she was afraid to because Trujillo had assaulted her earlier and “pointed a pistol grip shotgun at her during an altercation and had threatened to shoot her.”
According to the release, officers found a loaded pistol grip 12-gauge shotgun and extra shotgun shells in the bed of his pickup. The shotgun and shells were taken as evidence, and the case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
