New Penny Pines plantation to be dedicated this Saturday

Tuesday, April 22, 2014 — In conjunction with Arbor Day, Lassen National Forest will be dedicating its newest Penny Pines plantation this weekend.

The public is invited to the dedication of this new site, which will take place starting at noon Saturday, April 26 at the Hat Creek Rim Overlook, located off Highway 44, three miles east of the junction of highways 89/44 near Old Station.

The new plantation is in the footprint of the Sugarloaf Fire, which was started by lightning in August 2009. Trees have been planted at this new Penny Pines site thanks to contributions from generous donors, many of whom have had trees planted in memory of loved ones.
