Wednesday, May 7, 2014 — After more than an hour of closed session discussions, the Honey Lake Valley Recreation Authority’s Governing Board voted 4-1 to approve the purchase the Credence High School property at 814 Cottage St. as the site of a community swimming pool at its Tuesday, May 6 meeting.
President Brian Wilson, Vice President Jim Chapman and board members David Meserve and Larry Wosick voted to approve the purchase. Board member Nicolas McBride voted no.
The Susanville School District owns the property. The school district board discussed Credence High School during a closed session at its April 23 meeting but took no reportable action.
Jared Hancock, the authority’s executive officer, said the terms of the agreement would be released at a subsequent meeting.
“The board has agreed to the proposed terms and conditions and directed staff to prepare the final purchase and sale agreement to bring back at a special meeting, and the board has directed staff to work with the college to develop a mutually beneficial transition plan,” Hancock reported.
Lassen Community College’s fire science program has leased the site from Lassen Union High School for use as an off-campus training facility.
