High school sues over Credence
Tuesday, May 20, 2014 — A complaint has been filed against the Susanville School District in Lassen Superior Court over ownership of the former Credence High School property.
The complaint, filed by Lassen Union High School District’s attorney Tom Barth who is representing the Lassen Union High District, alleges the “Susanville School District has failed and/or refused and continues to fail and refuse, to execute necessary documents to confirm, acknowledge, and verify as a matter of public record that plaintiff holds legal title for the property as defendant was required to do on or about April 1988 as a result of fraud, accident, mistake, violation of trust, or other wrongful act.”
It claims Lassen Union High School District has possessed the Credence property since on or about 1985 and is seeking judgment that “it is the owner in fee simple of the property and that no defendant has any interest in the property adverse to plaintiff.”
