Wednesday, June 4, 2014 — Some provisional ballots have not been counted, so the numbers may change, but here are the unofficial final local June 3 Primary Election results as reported by the Lassen County Clerk’s Office.
Lassen County Superintendent of Schools — Patricia Gunderson received 2,516 votes (52.59 percent) to defeat incumbent Richard R. DuVarney who received 2,248 votes (46.99 percent) in the Lassen County Superintendent of Schools race. There were 11 write-in votes (0.42 percent).
Lassen County District 3 Supervisor — Jeff D. Hemphill received 472 votes (35.95 percent) and K. Max Tinnin received 259 votes (19.73 percent in the Lassen County District 3 Supervisor race. Since neither Hemphill nor Tinnin received more than 50 percent of the vote, they will face each other in November. Joseph Turner received 220 votes (16.76 percent), Chuck Downs received 202 votes (15.38 percent) and Jesse D. Claypool received 159 votes (12.11 percent). There was one write-in vote (0.08 percent).
Lassen County District 5 Supervisor — Incumbent Tom Hammond ran unopposed and received 640 votes (95.95 percent) to win the district 5 race. There were 27 write in votes (4.05 percent).
Lassen County Assessor — Dan Schlueter ran unopposed and received 4,125 votes (98.87 percent) to win election. There were 47 write-in votes (1.13 percent).
Lassen County Auditor — Diana Wemple received 3,619 votes (74.74 percent) to win the election while Jim Chapman received 1,216 votes (25.11 percent). There were seven write-in votes (0.14 percent).
Lassen County Clerk — Incumbent Julie Bustamante received 3,662 votes (75.44 percent) to win the election over David C. Cole who received 1,187 votes (24.45 percent). There were five write-in votes (0.10 percent).
Lassen County District Attorney — Stacey Montgomery received 2,718 votes (56.77 percent) to win the election while David Evans received 2,060 votes (43.02 percent). There were seven write-in votes (0.21 percent).
Lassen County Sheriff-Coroner — Incumbent Dean Growdon ran unopposed and was elected to another term. He received 4,451 votes (98.71 percent). There were 58 write-in votes (1.29 percent).
Lassen County Treasurer-Tax Collector — Nancy Cardenas received 2,480 votes (50.75 percent) to win election. John Mallery received 1,219 votes (24.94 percent), Brian Wilson received 883 votes (18.07 percent) and Richard Stovall received 301 votes (6.16 percent). There were four write-in votes (0.08 percent).
Susanville City Council — Kathie F. Garnier received 659 votes (26.09 percent) and incumbent Rod De Boer received 439 votes (17,38 percent) to win election to the Susanville City Council. David French received 380 votes (15.04 percent), Joseph Franco received 369 votes (14.61 percent), Alan Dowdy received 304 votes (12.03 percent), Chris Cole received 211 votes (8.35 percent) and Sherrie Neff received 158 votes (6.25 percent).
Measure X Community Services District — Measure X received 160 yes votes (60.61 percent) and 104 no votes (39.39 percent).
Measure Y Special Tax — Measure Y received 160 yes votes (59.93 percent) and 107 no votes (40.07 percent).
