Burns resigns as district attorney

Wednesday, June 4, 2014 — Lassen County District Attorney Robert Burns, who recently accepted a position as Lassen County Counsel, announced today he is resigning as district attorney effective Monday, June 9.

In a letter addressed to Larry Wosick, chairman of the Lassen County Board of Supervisors, Burns wrote, “Now that the voters have spoken, and consistent with my previously announced intentions, I hereby tender my resignation as Lassen County District Attorney/Public Administrator effective at 5 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014. I am hopeful that you will consider appointing the victor from the June 3, 2014 Primary Election, Ms. Stacey Montgomery, as Lassen County’s next district attorney/public administrator to fill the remainder of my elected term.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the citizens of Lassen County for the opportunity to have served in this very important position. It has been the honor of my professional career.”
